Conditional content, users and bots.
I’m working on a new plugin: WP Bot Content. This plugin is designed to filter specific WordPress content based upon whether a search engine is reading your site versus a human person.
A typical monetized blog or affiliate marketing site may contain many links to products and services embedded in the text where human visitors can easily find them. Here’s the catch: Google, Yahoo, Live and Ask content crawlers will find those links as well. In light of the fact that page rank computation includes external links (perhaps negatively) you may wish those links gone whenever the site is crawled.
Based on whether or not your visitor is a bot WP-Bot-Content can:
- Remove blocks of content
- Include additional blocks of content
- Strip external links leaving the click text
- Send mail when a specific page has been index by a bot
WP-Bot-Content may help your monetized blog or affiliate site achieve a higher page rank with Google and other bots while allowing you to add those important external links that keep the money flowing in.
